 Xo Design is located in Chicago, IL and provides quality event planning, floral, and décor rental services to all of our surrounding neighbors.

Hello! My name is Nichole Johnston and I am the founder of Xo Design. I'm so glad you've stopped by. 

For as long as I can remember I’ve been a maker. Whether its flowers, writing, or rearranging the living room furniture, I’ve always felt the most fulfilled when I am creating. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering I come from a long line of creative women; Women who always chose to follow their passions and considered their creativity one of their most sacred qualities. They taught me that sharing what’s in your heart, no matter the medium, is the very best way to connect with the people who mean the most to you.

 Today, this belief has become the foundation in which Xo is built. Of course I love flowers (boy, do I love flowers!) but being able to nurture the personal connections I have with my clients; that is what truly makes me fall in love with my work every single day.

ConCEPT Development


Day of Coordination


You just got engaged; you’re over the moon that you’ve found THE ONE! But where do you go from here? If you find you just need a little push in the right direction, Xo can certainly help! Our team will meet with you, get to know you, and discuss your needs, wants and vision for the day. Not sure what you’re looking for? We’d love to help you create your wedding “wish list” with your unique style in mind. We can provide suggestions for venues, vendors, color choices, flower types, you name it! After our two-hour session you will leave feeling organized, energized and fully ready to take on this exciting planning adventure!

Concept Development

As the honored guests, you should not have to worry about a thing on your big day. With that being said, there are a lot of moving parts that go into a big production like a wedding. It always helps to have an extra pair of eyes and ears making sure that everything stays on track. As your day of coordinator, we will make sure that your biggest concern that day is whether to sip champagne or dance the Macarena. The rest will be completely taken care of by our experienced team. Our job is to make sure you are stress free and able to have the time of your life on your wedding day.

Insight + Package >

-10 hours of pre-wedding consultation (final meeting with Dj, and venue/ site coordinators)

-Development of a comprehensive "day of" timeline complete with all vendor information and cues. 


- Two comprehensive phone conversations with each vendor to confirmation of all wedding day expectations (1 month ahead, 1 week ahead)

-2 designated staff members (staggered hours) on site for a 12 hour period the day of the wedding to assist in all wedding day tasks

In addition to making sure everything is flawless the day of the wedding, the Insight + package gives you the insider advantage. We will provide you all of the trade secrets, vendor information and professional insight it has taken years to compile. We will show you who to talk to, what to ask and when to book to get the best rates possible. We will make sure you have all the information you need to make sure your wedding day is a success. While you will be making the calls, we will be virtually guiding you every step of the way.

-20 hours of pre wedding consultation, organization and guidance

-A comprehensive list of qualified vendor contacts that work within your budget, style and location.

- Helpful trade tips to ensure you are getting the best deal possible with every vendor

-Development of a "day of timeline" complete with all vendor information. Each vendor will receive a copy of the timeline prior to wedding day so they know where to be and when.

 -2 designated staff members (Staggered hours) on site for a 12 hour period the day of the wedding

Perfect for the couple who knows exactly what they want but doesn't have the time to make it happen. Sit back and relax as we walk you step by step through the entire planning process. In addition to helping you develop a budget, choose the venue, colors and theme, we will also provide you with vendor options, will contact all vendors, schedule consultations, review all contracts, manage deposits and ensure timelines are all cohesive. We will make sure all moving parts are where they need to be at the time they are expected to ensure that your big day is a success. In short- with the "whole package" you have the ability to be as involved as you would like in the planning process. Everything will be tailored to your taste and desires without having to fuss over the small details.

We booked our florist just three months out and she did a phenomenal job helping us pick beautiful colors and flowers while still keeping within a reasonable budget. She arrived early to personally deliver our bouquets and boutonnieres to our hotel and then went right to work setting up the chapel and the reception area. She even stayed during the ceremony to move the ceremony flowers into the reception hall for double use.
